The Silverbacks are a dynamic and versatile set of musicians with ties to the Silicon Valley area. The band plays an interesting mix of originals and covers, cutting a broad swath through many rock genres. Most of the covers are from the 60s, 70s, and 80s highlighting such diverse bands as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, CCR, Journey, and AC/DC. They perfoms these songs in their own unique way blending classic rock, funk, southern rock, blues, jazz, and other styles. The original material is both serious and fun. The first week in February of 2010 was a busy one for The Silverbacks. Always ready to pitch in for a good cause, the band played charity events on back to back nights. On February 4, the band played at The Heart of Technology's second major fundraiser held at South First Billiards. This event was in support of the William C. Overfelt High School Booster Club. In addition to the regular band members, Grant Pierce, a very talented guitar player and vocalist, joined the band for the first set of mostly blues and R&B favorites. The second set followed a very successful silent auction and got the dance floor filled. All in all a great event to get the booster club going in their quest to help more students be able to participate in after school activities. All in all, well in excess of $10,000 was raised for this worthy cause.
Hardly getting time to catch their breaths, The Silverbacks played the following night in San Jose in support of the South Valley YMCA, at their Y-Guides Night Out Fundraiser. The event was held at the Scottish Rite Center in San Jose. The beautiful venue had wonderful acoustics allow the band to play, people to dance, while others enjoyed the casino on the mezzanine level. Another great night of fundraising as the Y-Guides brought in more than $10,00 for their cause as well. |

Autism Research Fundraiser Success |
|
On Friday, August 21, 2009, The Silverbacks played for a fundraising event for the Generation Rescue autism charity. The event held at the University Club in San Francisco and an "Ivy-wide Networking Mixer" that was attended by Ivy League graduates as well as graduates of UC Berkeley (Cal) and Stanford University which were also invited to the event. The net proceeds to the charity were $10,060! The Silverbacks were happy and proud to play at this venue which has outstanding accoustics. The Silverbacks also recently played at the annual Almaden Estates Street Party. We enjoy playing for community and charity events. Be sure to contact us if you like some great music at your event. |
